FUN AT DANCIN FOR MIRACLES 2016
Thanks so very much to Valarie, Rose and their volunteers for yet another very successful Dancin For Miracles, both in the fund-raising ($6000 raised) and in the fun we had. As usual there was an amazing selection of prizes to be won with the raffles, the penny sale and, new this year, a silent auction. The instructors did an excellent job … Dan Morrison, Fred Buckley, Leah DePlancke, Double Trouble, Bobby Chong, Elaine Cook, Shelley McClaren Nelson, Doris Dube, Michel Cabana.
Dances taught: ‘Just ,,, Dance, Dance, Dance’, ‘Be Happy Now’, ‘Worth Waiting 4’, ‘I’ve Been Found’, ‘Running EZ’, ‘Mr. Sexy Man’, ‘T.A.C’., ‘My Dress, Your Floor’, ‘Can’t Blame It On The Booze’, ‘Love Truck’, ‘Dti’, ‘September In The Rain’, ‘A Kind of Hush’.
Do let me know if I’ve missed a dance or got the title incorrect.
I couldn’t get there until Saturday and gather that the serious introduction of the instructors went even more seriously than ever before!! I have checked out a video and definitely agree that the event is much better when the instructors display their very professional personas!!
Saturday evening brought a very touching performance by the Country Cruisers and a tribute to Johnny Kovacs. We are all part of the Dancin For Miracles family and this loss was felt by everyone.
Lynn Warden controlled the DJ booth for the evening dances and as always did a great job while Dan kept the instructors on form during the day workshops. Thanks to you both for keeping us on the dance floor. The theme this year for the Saturday evening dance was ‘Heroes and Villains’ and there sure was an impressive turnout from these characters!
What a terrific event this is, a homecoming for Ontario dancers and an opportunity for us to be part of a fund-raiser that has raised an enormous amount of money over the years. On top of which there is so much fun and laughter that I don’t quite know how we managed to dance as well. No doubt Valarie is already working on how to entertain us next year as well as starting off the fund-raising, she is tireless and we are grateful for the energy, effort and time that she and her helpers put into the event. Looking forward to next September already.
